About ZENJOY

Joie Jacala, EAMP LAc MSTOM

I am the owner of ZENJOY, providing services of East Asian Medicine including acupuncture, electro-acupuncture medicine, acupoint injection therapy, herbal and nutritional therapy, tui na Chinese bodywork, cupping, and more. As a graduate of Pacific College of Oriental Medicine - NYC, the largest educational entity of East Asian Medicine in the US, my training includes over 650 hours in Sciences and Western Medicine; over 200 hours of bodywork techniques and body manipulation; and over 800 hours of hands-on needle technique and clinical treatment experience. My professional credentials include state licensure in WA and NY; and certification with National Certification Committee for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) as a Diplomat of Oriental Medicine. I have a Bachelors in Microbiology/Pre-Med, a Masters in Traditional Oriental Medicine, and am pursuing my Doctorate in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.

Ancient Medicine for the Modern World
I came to love East Asian Medicine for its beauty which lies in that by balancing the body's energy and improving circulation, it addresses the root of the pathology of disease(s). You may find that while you are seeking treatment for a main complaint, secondary issues may be resolved as well.

It is my intention to support my community's health and to provide quality care. My mission is to preserve and improve the health and well-being of individuals in my community by optimizing and balancing the body's natural healing processes in order to prevent disease through acupuncture and its various modalities, herbs, and dietary therapy.
As a professional health care provider, I am prepared to share with you my skill set.

In my time away from clinical practice I enjoy spending time with my family, exploring and learning new things. Adventuring, sports, DIY crafting and hunting for treasures are my other passions.

Crystal Tank, DAOM LAc

In completion of my Doctorate of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) through Bastyr University—and as a part of the Pain and Anesthesiology Service at Harborview Medical Center (HMC), the leading trauma center in the Pacific Northwest—my colleagues and I used acupuncture and electro-acupuncture to treat patients admitted with severe and challenging-to-treat pain conditions. In our studies in Shanghai and Hang Zhou, China, we treated patients with many symptoms, including facial paralysis, stroke, and neuropathic pain conditions — echoing patient symptoms treated in my practice at HMC.

At ZENJOY, my goals are to apply my decade of training to help you feel better in the skin you’re in. I use a hi-tech approach, which has a foundation in thousands of years of acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, while making use of the latest technological advancements in pain management. Treatments may include the use of low-level laser therapy (LLLT), electro-stimulation acupuncture (EA), and new approaches to treatment created to help you on your healing journey. I believe that the resolution of chronic and acute problems takes a multi-modal approach to care; necessitating integrative medicine practices. When professionals partner in care for our patients’ benefit, everyone is stronger—most of all the patients!
